Makala Madrigal hits the lip hard
earning 2nd place in the Men’s Shortboard division.
The much anticipated 22nd Annual Quiksilver Kamaaina Nissan Big Island Pro-Am Surf Trials were held on August 5, 2006, at Honoli’i Beach Park. Surfers from around the island made the trek to compete for pride, prizes, and a coveted round trip and entry into a professional contest on Oahu.
The waves ranged from 3 to 6 feet and conditions varied from smooth and glassy to sometimes rainy and windy, but that didn’t dampen the enthusiasm and excitement of the event, as competitors kicked it up a notch and took their surfing to a higher level.
